Private ordering will cost Amazon Prime members $100 a year if they sign up to use the private ordering service, the company announced Tuesday.
Amazon said that the service is “a great way to save money on your grocery bill” and that its members can access up to 10 orders per week and access the same products that they’d get if they ordered through Amazon.com.
But the service will cost customers $100 extra per year if the order is over $500, Amazon said in a statement.
Amazon Prime membership costs $99 a year.
The Amazon Prime program is a $100-a-year membership, with annual renewals available to Prime members.
Amazon’s statement on private ordering came the same day that Walmart announced that its customers will have to pay $100 to use its private ordering platform.
Walmart said it’s partnering with Amazon to “make it easy for our members to find the products they want, when they want it, and get them to their door without hassle or hassle.”
Walmart also said that members will have access to Amazon’s Prime shopping experience for a limited time starting today, but that “this will only be available for customers with Amazon Prime.”
Walmart and Amazon have been locked in a war of words over whether their services should be treated as a same-day delivery service.
Walmart’s Prime program allows customers to shop on any day of the week and get the same items on that day.
Amazon has launched its Prime Fresh program, which offers customers the same service for a $99 annual fee.
Walmart, however, has said that it’s treating Prime Fresh as a single-day service and not a service that delivers items on a schedule.
Amazon announced Tuesday that it will be partnering with Walmart on a private ordering and Prime Fresh platform.
The company said it will provide members with access to all the same Prime Fresh products as if they were shopping at Walmart.
Amazon will offer Prime Fresh members a 30-day free trial of Amazon’s own private ordering program.
Members of Walmart’s Private ordering service can also order groceries from Amazon.
If they purchase $10,000 worth of groceries in the first 30 days of their membership, they will receive $50 credit for the purchase, with the balance due in 2023.
Amazon offers Prime members free shipping on Amazon.ca.
Amazon is also offering Prime members a free two-day shipping on select orders of $250 or more.
The retailer said that Prime members will be able to order from Amazon using their Amazon Prime account and will get the Prime delivery service in the mail, along with Amazon’s other delivery services.
The Prime service is available for Amazon shoppers in Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada, Austria, Spain and Portugal.
