| Washington Post article Federal hiring agencies are expected to get a 3.6-percent raise next year from the federal budget, as well as a $1.8 billion boost from the 2017 budget, according to the Office of Management and Budget.
The OMB says the agency would need an additional $3 billion in 2018 to fund its operations and capital investments, and $1 billion in 2019 to pay for the hiring freeze.
The budget includes a $2.2 billion increase for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and $2 billion for the Department of Transportation.
The White the Office for Management and Government Reform says it would like to hire 200,000 people in the next two years, up from about 130,000 in 2019.
The Office of Personnel Management also expects to hire 50,000 workers, a 1 percent increase over 2019.
But it’s unclear how many of those will be federal employees.
The Federal Reserve Board’s top financial regulator is asking Congress to authorize the Federal Reserve to create $100 billion to help defray the cost of the hiring freezes.
The Fed said the freeze will be effective March 1.
It said it would also hire an additional 200 employees to help the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) meet the costs of the freezing.
The agency has said it is already paying the costs from the money it is holding in its checking accounts.
In addition to the hiring caps, the freeze also would prevent federal agencies from using the federal hiring system to fill vacancies.
The freeze also will allow the federal agencies to hire people on temporary and voluntary contracts for six months after they are hired.
The government said it was working with the Federal Election Commission and other agencies to reduce the number of federal employees, but did not provide further details.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said in a statement it would continue to hire employees and would continue the federal employment system, but said it wanted to reduce staffing in the agency.
HHS also announced it was hiring two new senior managers to help its workforce and was working to hire more people at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other federal agencies.
In a separate announcement, the Trump administration also announced that it was expanding the number it would allow to work for government contractors.
The federal government will now allow more people to work as subcontractors, and contractors will have to provide a work authorization form to employees who are new employees.
HHS will also be expanding the process for employees who want to join their existing employer’s contracting team, and will also allow employees who have not already been hired to start working at that company.
